CES 2026 ran in Las Vegas in early January, and robot vacuums had one of the busiest corners of the show. The loudest theme was stairs. The most useful one, for anyone actually shopping, was mopping.
Roborock showed the Saros Rover, which it calls the first robot vacuum with a wheel-leg design. Its wheels sit on robotic legs that raise and lower the body, so it can climb a staircase and clean the steps on the way up. Roborock described it as still in development, with no price and no ship date.
It was not alone. Dreame brought back its Cyber X, a tracked stair-climbing carrier first shown at IFA 2025 that moves a robot vacuum between floors. MOVA showed a stair module of its own, the Zeus 60. Dreame also had a Cyber 10 Ultra prototype with a robotic arm that can lift items of about a pound. All of these are demonstrations. None of them is something you can order.
The products that are shipping are more ordinary, and more relevant for it. Roller mops are replacing pairs of spinning pads: Roborock's Qrevo Curv 2 Flow, Ecovacs' Deebot X12 OmniCyclone and Eufy's Omni E35 all use a rotating roller mop. Narwal's new flagship, the Flow 2, pairs a warm water roller mop with a claimed 30,000 Pa of suction. Roborock also announced the Saros 20 and the Saros 20 Sonic, the latter with the fifth generation of its vibrating VibraRise mop.
Suction numbers deserve a shrug. Every flagship now claims a figure in the tens of thousands of pascals, and the companies measure it themselves. Choose on navigation, obstacle avoidance, how much dock maintenance you are signing up for, and the price of replacement rollers, bags and filters. The biggest number on the box tells you very little.
One more caution. A model shown on a CES stage in January does not always reach US stores quickly, or at the price you expect. Several announcements came without US pricing, so wait for the real listing before planning around one.
The short version: if your current robot works and your home has one floor, nothing at CES 2026 makes it obsolete. If you have mostly hard floors, a roller mop model is the upgrade worth watching for this year. Stair climbers are impressive engineering, but they are still demos, so do not put off a purchase waiting for one.
