Picbolt grabs screenshots and prettifies them. Custom branding, no watermark, 4K, premium mockups, unlimited downloads, $49 lifetime. It is an alternative to Canva and it does what it says.
Then I read the founder's own update. It says you still get access to their premium AI credit pool, they are covering the API costs, and that they have already burned through more than $2,000 in AI credits in one month alone.
Do the arithmetic with them. Say 500 customers paying $50 once. That is $25,000, against $2,000 a month going out. That is roughly twelve months before the money is gone, and that assumes nobody else buys and nobody uses it more. If customers keep using the credits they are advertising, this ends one way.
Bring your own key should have been the model from the start, with a lower price to match. Instead the credits are a feature, and features cost the founder money every month.
AppSumo says in writing that it has not vetted this listing. Twelve reviews, all five stars, for a product whose free tier is three mockups a day.
My verdict: 1 star, pass. The tool is fine. The business model behind the lifetime promise is not.
